Families and communities come together in a celebration of abundance and togetherness, dating back 3000 years to the legendary story of the Lady of the Moon, Chang Er, during China’s Zhou Dynasty. Traditionally during the Moon Festival, or Mid Autumn Festival, a lantern parade is held and families share the eating of mooncakes. The Festival falls on Sunday 27th September this year with celebrations around Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide leading up to the festival day. Catch the beautiful Chinese lanterns in Melbourne this Saturday and Sunday 19th/20th September on Crown Riverwalk, along with cultural performances and delicious Asian foods.
